Soul Mate: Myth
or Reality? Page 2 ~ By Sheryl Bohlander
They imagine there
is more to the relationship than really exists and then they
rationalize away the reasons why things didn't work out – again.
Soulful
Living
Living soulfully
is easy, yet full of effort; simple, yet complex. A favorite word of
mine is "mindfulness."
To be mindful,
you need to pay attention. Start with yourself. Be mindful of how you
are sitting, where stress is located in your body. Feel the tension in
your muscles. Relax your mind and focus inwardly. Hear your heart
beat, feel the movement of your breath as you inhale and exhale. Next,
move your concentration outward. Note the sounds and smells around
you. Observe the colors and textures in your life. Many people find
that making a special place where they can relax and reflect helps
them to be "mindful."
Learning
mind/body relaxation and concentration techniques such as meditation
or self-hypnosis can help you in mindfulness.
When you
interact with people, look beyond their physical presence. Look into
their eyes. See the "essence" that is their authentic self. This is
how you see their soul, their reality.
Attracting
Your Soul Mate
In the book
Twin Souls by Patricia Joudry and Maurie Pressman, the authors
explain that the ultimate union is between twin souls, a myth which
presents the idea that at the moment a soul comes into being, it is
divided in two – a male and female part.
From that moment
on, their purpose is to reunite with their other half. As the authors
state, the twin soul reunion will only occur after there has been
significant evolution – as spiritual and as human beings.
In a practical
sense, that means that we – each of us as individuals – need to
examine our own emotional development, our spiritual development,
clarify our priorities, and live authentically with courage and
conviction.
The reward of
finding our twin is exhilarating! What we dwell on in our minds and in
our hearts is what we attract into our lives.
When we are
living in "flow," when we are the best that we can be, when we live
true to ourselves, only then can we project the kind of positive
energy that attracts like-minded, soulful people into our lives.

"You abandon
yourself, then start looking for satisfaction. You feel that
something's missing, so you are always searching, becoming more and
more frantic as all the things you acquire or accomplish don't fill
you. This whole pattern occurs because you have stopped being. If you
just let yourself be there, there is nowhere to go, nothing to look
for, because it's all there. It is not that some people are satisfied
by being and others are not; no, we all feel satisfied when we are
ourselves. It is a quality of our human nature. It is our natural
endowment. It is the meaning of being a human being. The only thing we
need to do is to let ourselves be."
